I chose Pink Floyd’s, The Wall, album as my CD cover design. I don’t listen to Pink Floyd nor do I know his songs but I did select this cover because I like the design. I think it is a very good design. Lines are used to make patterns and the patterns in turn make the shape of the wall. Although the wall fills the full page of the album, it appears that there are more spaces on the page because the shapes are only formed by lines and not solid shapes. The page is well proportioned and balanced as the title and singer’s name are centered and has plenty of spaces around them. The title and singer’s name are easy to read even though the font they used is an unusual font. I like the use of the font because it suggest some kind of tension or craziness. |
I suspect that the songs in this album are of troubles, violence, and other emotional tensions. I like the use of a predominantly white color because it contributes to the simplicity of the design. There are some brown color used that gives a hint of smudges on the wall. There are dots on the wall that gives an impression of the texture of the wall.
I like the overall design of the album cover. It is very recognizable at glance. It is simple but I think it represents the contents of the album very well.
